Ultherapy® is a revolutionary non-invasive ultrasound treatment that naturally and gradually tightens and lifts the skin.
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. It uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. It is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift the skin.
Ultherapy® is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial.
With the addition of the new Ultherapy® décolletage treatment, Ultherapy® is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.

Could Ultherapy® Replace a Facelift?
Ultherapy® treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a facelift. Ultherapy® is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How Many Ultherapy® Treatments Will I Need?
Most patients only need one treatment. However, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual’s collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.
Is Ultherapy® Painful?
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.
Is There Downtime Associated with Ultherapy®?
Because Ultherapy® is treating at multiple depths under the surface of the skin there is generally zero downtime. The skin may appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin.
How Soon Will I See Results from Ultherapy®?
Every patient’s response/heal time will differ; some people will start to notice results within two weeks. Depending on each individual's treatment protocol, it can take up to 12 weeks to see full results.
Are the Results from Ultherapy® Permanent?
While Ultherapy® can help to turn back the clock a bit, we do inevitably continue to age over time. We find patients maintain best results when they get an Ultherapy® treatment every 12-18 months.
How Long is the Ultherapy® Procedure?
Depending on the areas being treated the treatment time can vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours. This will be discussed and determined during your consultation.

Real Patient Reviews
"I have been cared for by Dr. Dennis Gross for many years, and always receive thorough, professional care. Since I was a sun lover for many years, I develop skin cancers, especially on my face. Dr. Gross is such a great surgeon, my scars are barely visible. Plus he is so kind and reassuring, as is his staff."

How does Utherapy differ from other laser treatments?
Ultherapy uses sound energy—tried-and-true ultrasound—which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. Ultherapy ultrasound stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over two to three months. Some lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers. Typically, laser treatments also only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin which is the specialty of Ultherapy.
How long does Ultherapy results last?
The results last for a year and typically last for several years Since the procedure stimulates a person’s own collagen production, how long the results last depends on the individual’s underlying aging process. After the initial series of treatments, very often occasional touch ups, such as yearly treatments, maintain the results. Fortunately, because there is no downtime, this method of treatment is very practical.
What does Ultherapy feel like?
Ultherapy feels like tiny cramps inside the skin. The laser is delivered in one second pulsed so the cramping sensation only lasts a few sections seconds as the laser releases the beam.
Are there any side effects of Ultherapy?
There may be slight redness that typically resolves within a few hours following the treatment. Some patients may have slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. They may last a few days.
How many Ultherapy treatments will I need?
The majority of patients only need one or two treatments; however, some may benefit from a series of three treatments depending on how much skin laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound laser and its collagen-building process. Follow-up Ultherapy treatments each year may help maintain results.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with some degree of skin that sags due to looseness and laxity. The skin's firmness is restored by the laser producing more collagen fibers inside the skin to the point of looking more firmed and tighter.. Loose skin along the jawline, chin and the neck, or creepy lines and wrinkles on the chest or above the knees, are signals a patient might be a candidate. Typically, those in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.2,3 While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical facelift, there are many people who want some facial lifting but are not ready for surgery, whether mentally, physically, or financially. There also are younger people who want to "stay ahead of the game," as well as patients wanting an aesthetic improvement without surgery.
