What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing with Lumenis ResurFX?

The latest in non-ablative, fractional laser technology, the Lumenis ResurFX is able to effectively and efficiently treat conditions such as dark spots, acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, and more. The term non-ablative refers to the way in which the treatment does not destroy or ablate skin cells, and fractional means that only a certain percentage or fraction of the skin is affected.

Laser Resurfacing in New York, NY

With a laser skin resurfacing treatment with Lumenis ResurFX, patients can achieve fantastic results with minimal downtime. Compare this to the CO2 laser, which requires several days or more of irritating peeling, crusting, and swelling once the treatment has been completed.

For patients to achieve the best results from their ResurFX laser skin resurfacing, several treatments may be necessary, depending on the desired results.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost in New York, NY?

The cost of laser skin resurfacing depends on the number of sessions you need to achieve your desired results and the treatment area. We encourage you to call us to schedule a consultation to develop a tailored treatment plan and review your individual cost.

What Does the Lumenis ResurFX Treat?

There are several conditions that laser skin resurfacing with Lumenis ResurFX can effectively and efficiently treat, such as the following:

  • Loose or lax skin
  • Sun spots
  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Discoloration

How Does the ResurFX Procedure Work?

The Lumenis ResurFX laser has been developed for skin resurfacing treatments with a priority focus on patient comfort, just as much as its effectiveness. With its non-ablative nature, the laser stimulates your skin in order to develop collagen without the need to damage or ablate any of the skin. As the natural collagen increases within the skin, it begins to look more even, more tight, and ultimately more youthful.

The Lumenis ResurFX laser is also a fractional laser, which means that the laser gets delivered as tiny dots to the skin. Only one pass over the skin with the ResurFX is required to produce effective results, which also drastically reduces treatment time when compared to other skin resurfacing treatments. Additionally, due to the laser being non-ablative and fractional, any potential recovery period after the treatment is greatly minimized.

Laser Skin Resurfacing vs Chemical Peel: Which Is Better?

If you're concerned about signs of aging or specific skin problems, you may be considering a chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing, both effective and non-invasive options. Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and skin texture, but they aren't effective at treating sagging skin or deeper wrinkles like laser resurfacing. Laser skin resurfacing for acne scars and hyperpigmentation is also the more effective option.

What Happens During the ResurFX Procedure?

Due to the ResurFX laser’s non-ablative nature, the treatment is found by most patients to extremely comfortable. A topical anesthetic is, however, often applied just in case. A cooling air device is also used during the procedure which blows cold, refreshing air onto the treatment area for additional comfort. Depending on the size of the area being treated, you can expect the procedure to take somewhere around 20 minutes to complete.

What Is Recovery Like After Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Once the ResurFX procedure has been completed, you can expect some redness and swelling, although you can return to you normal daily activities the next day. Any redness and swelling that does occur is similar to what one would expect from a mild sunburn, but this will subside in just a few days.

In order to achieve the best possible results from the ResurFX procedure, you may require multiple treatments, usually at least three or four, each spaced about one month apart.
